With prototypes and pre-production cars, you always run a higher risk of something going wrong at presentations, which is what happened to Ford and its new GT.
While preparing to show off the car in its prototype form at the Circuito del Jarama located in Madrid, Spain, under scorching temperatures of around 40 degrees Celsius or 104 Fahrenheit, the GT’s 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 refused to start.
According to Periodismo Del Motor, Ford’s people were trying to bring the Ecoboost engine to life for about 20 minutes before calling in the ambulance…err…we mean a transport truck to take it inside for a thorough inspection.
Quick reminder, the Ford GT we saw at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show in January was a near-production model or in Ford’s own words, “95 percent” ready, with the actual car to be revealed next year. Its new turbocharged V6 mill is rumored to have as much as 700-horses. Ford has said that it will limit annual production to around 250 units.
