Regardless of what you think about Peugeot, you really need to give them a pass since they’re out to impress us with such a quick version of their already awesome 308 hatchback.
Yes, the Peugeot 308 can sit down quite nicely next to the word “awesome”. If you get the specs down right, you could argue that it’s the best looking non-premium hatchback in Europe.
The interior is splendid as well, with an interesting design and high quality materials so overall, this car really is a winner – that now comes with either 250 PS (247 HP) or 270 PS (266 HP).
The 308 GTi will take on the likes of the Renault Megane RS 275 Trophy and Opel Astra OPC in terms of exact power output, since both the Golf GTI and the Focus ST come with a little less muscle.
In terms of acceleration, you can get from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.0 seconds if you’re behind the wheel of the 270 PS version. Coincidentally, that’s the same as in the Astra OPC.
But now on to the exhaust note. Unfortunately this short clip is just a teaser, but from what I can tell, it’s going to be a blast listening to this car accelerate.
Even thought the noise sample isn’t large enough to satisfy our curiosity, as of right now, the Megane RS 275 Trophy is still at the top of the list when it comes to its soundtrack.
Either way, not bad at all Peugeot! Keep up the good work.
