For those who think the C7 Corvette Z06 isn’t quick enough, ProCharger has over 1,000 reasons why you should consider their business.
If you’re curious about how high this “boost conspiracy” goes, then you should know that the ProCharger headunit is capable of supporting over 1,600 HP, where in time, that number might grow even further.
Though at first, ProCharger wanted to test the Z06 at 100% stock boost level (10 psi) – what they ended up doing was removing the factory blower, without changing the timing/fuel/boost and strapping on their own unit. The gain was 115 HP over stock.
After raising the boost to 13 psi, the reward was 720 RWHP (827 HP) while still running on factory timing and pump fuel! That’s pretty darn impressive if you ask us.
If that’s not enough, know that ProCharger’s F-2 unit is the one that can support 1,600 HP and that each ProCharger supercharger is self contained, having its own oiling system. They actually build these things out of aircraft grade billet aluminum.
These systems are also reversible, though it’s unlikely anybody’s going to be interested in returning to the stock 650 HP. Not that it would make for a slow car, but since you’ve gone through all the trouble of turning your Z06 Vette into a speed demon, might as well keep doing what you’re doing.
In the end, it all comes down to the LT4’s potential as a power unit. Its compression ratios are ready for large amounts of boost, which makes going faster a hell of a lot easier.
By the way, the fact that this is arguably also one of the world’s best looking means of transportation, just proves that GM is capable of building a world class supercar.
