Smart’s new ForTwo range will once again be crowned by a go-faster edition featuring the Brabus signature and we’ve spied it ahead of a rumored Frankfurt Motor Show debut this fall.
In prototype form at least, the only telltale signs that there’s something sporty going on with this lightly camouflaged ForTwo are the taller alloys shod in beefier rubber, a lowered suspension, and what appears to be a rear diffuser behind the wraps, on the corners of which, pop out two tailpipes.
By the time it enters production, it should get some additional Brabus goodies such as side skirts and spoilers.
It’s believed that power for the Smart ForTwo Brabus – as well as the related performance version of the Renault Twingo – will come from a fettled iteration of the existing 0.9-liter turbo petrol engine pushing anywhere from 110hp to 130hp towards the rear wheels, likely through either a manual gearbox or a dual clutch automatic transmission.
A firmer suspension and a host of interior upgrades from Brabus, along with the compulsory price boost over the regular models, will round out the performance Fortwo’s menu.
