Volvo may sell the V40 hatchback replacement in the US, according to a fresh report published by De Telegraaf. It quotes Volvo senior VP Alain Visser who confirmed this while at the same time adding that the model could also get a long wheelbase variant.
It’s not known if the new model will keep the V40 moniker,. This car, which is said to debut in 2017, will ride on Volvo’s Compact Modular Architecture (or CMA) platform that will also be used to underpin a V40-sized small crossover which could be called XC40 – that would arrive one year after the new hatch launches.
Additional information was provided regarding possible power plants, which will be conventional turbo gas and diesel options, as well as hybrids using either power source – a diesel hybrid this size would probably return killer economy numbers.
