There’s a very good reason why we don’t park in front of fire hydrants, and no, it’s not because a traffic officer will give us a ticket or tow away our car.
It’s so that the fire department can have easy access in case the fire hydrant is needed, you know, for a…fire which could very well be over a life or death situation.
Fire hoses are bulky, heavy, and very difficult to move around making it impossible for firefighters to thread them under or around a vehicle.
One of our Facebook readers, Henry C. from Hong Kong, took and shared this picture of a Maserati coupe parked in front of a fire hydrant with two fire fighters standing behind.
Perhaps these men should take a page from the Boston Firefighter’s playbook on what they do whenever they encounter these situations…
