A mystery Jaguar? Or maybe not, but let’s take this from the beginning. Carscoops reader Harry B. from the UK shot this camouflaged saloon on the road the other day.
“I spied this wrapped car earlier and thought it may be of interest,” said Harry. “I have attached the photos, sorry they aren’t amazing, to me looks like a new Jaguar, possibly some form of XE.”
The pictures are fine Harry and we thank you for sending them over!
A quick license plate check confirms Harry’s assessment that this is indeed a Jaguar, with the registration office also revealing that a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine powers the sedan, but unfortunately, it does not say which Jaguar model it is.
Truth is, Jaguar’s recent “one-design fits all” approach can be very confusing when their cars are swathed in camouflage, but there’s one clue on this tester that makes us believe it could be an XF prototype and that’s the angular design of the passenger window (not including the third side window on the C-column) which is distinctively different from that of the XE.
Now, if we’re right, then this raises the question of what’s Jaguar doing with a 2.0-liter diesel-powered XF, which is already offered in its (European) range?
H/T to Harry for the scoop shots!
