We are getting closer to the launch of the first-ever convertible S-Class, which will be based on the stylish S-Class Coupe.
We have already seen development prototypes of the S-Class Convertible, so this latest spy video shot in Germany won’t bring big surprises. Unfortunately, as in all previous spy photos and videos, the S-Class Convertible had its soft top closed. However, it’s not hard to picture it with the top down and we anticipate it will make for one stunning appearance.
The model caught on video appears to be a Mercedes-AMG S63 Convertible since it sports a more aggressive body kit and quad exhausts. As with the S63 AMG Coupe and sedan, the Convertible will get a 5.5-liter V8 biturbo unit producing 577hp (585PS) and 900Nm (664lb-ft) of torque, mated to an AMG Speedshift MCT 7-speed transmission.
The S-Class Convertible will also be available in Mercedes-AMG S65 trim with a 6.0-liter V12 twin-turbo engine producing 621hp (630PS) and a monumental 738lb-ft (1,000Nm) of peak torque.
