So, this is how the Minions plan to take over the world – by rolling over our cars and causing chaos?
Oh, yes, this happened in real life when an enormous 12 meter (40ft) tall inflatable Minion got loose from a nearby fairground in an outer suburb of Dublin, Ireland, on Monday afternoon, landing on a busy road and causing traffic problems – fortunately, without injuring anyone.
One of the drivers at the scene actually filmed the gigantic Minion, or at least he/she did up until the yellow balloon sat down on his/her car.
Dublin councilor Paul McCauliffe didn’t see the humor in the incident, as he told The Irish Times that the escaped Minion shocked motorists – and he does have a point.
“I don’t want to sound like a killjoy, but if that had landed on a cyclist, for instance, it could have been serious,” he said. “If you take the Minion part of it out, if this was a large inflatable weather balloon that had not been properly tethered, there would be no humor in this story at all.”
“It seems like one of those innocent ‘silly season’ stories but I am very concerned that such a large object was allowed escape onto a busy main road. There could have been far more serious consequences,” said McCauliffe. “I have asked the Council to provide me with a report on the incident and for the operators of the fairground to be interviewed by council officials.”
