Elon Musk, the boss of Tesla Motors, has already expressed his view that people may be banned from driving in the future, and an analyst says we can actually predict what he’s going to do about it – he wants to stay in business.

According to industry expert, analyst Adam Jonas, quoted by the Detroit Free Press, the Silicon Valley-based automaker “has such a lead on connected, electric cars compared to rivals that it is likely to create a new division with a name like Tesla Mobility.”

Apparently, the announcement for this is expected to be made within the next 12 to 18 months and the autonomous model(s) it spawns could hit the market as early as 2018!

Chronology-wise, the introduction of the purported autonomous pod would happen sometime after the smaller regular electric sedan hits showrooms.

It all kind of makes sense with the industry context at the moment, as well as other reports and official statements made by Tesla – we’ll have to wait and see how it pans out and if any official announcements are made; so far there have been none on the matter.
