Yup, although we don’t know how he managed to do it, given his ad was less or more of a joke.

The renowned journalist offered his “beloved” Audi S4 for sale on Pistonheads a few days ago, but was fairly direct about the car’s condition. What can I say; being an outspoken car reviewer leaves you with uncontrollable habits when describing automobiles, even your own. That’s why Chris made a terrific job and went great lengths to describe how much his (former) beefed up Avant sucked.

No, really, he called it a “retired call-girl” that “looks back on its life and wonder what on earth it did to deserve the VIN number handed to it.” So, how did this car sinned? Well it started life as a UK press car, and you can be certain that countless “car reviewers” and “journalists” had their way with it.

You’ve seen how Harris trashes the cars he drives, right? Going sideways and whatnot. Well, imagine at least two dozen other guys and gals tempted by the thing’s 3.0-litre, twin-turbo V6 to do the same. By the time it left the press business the car had 10,000 miles (16,000 km) on the clock. Unfortunately, its ordeal wasn’t over because it landed in one of Harris’ family member’s garage. Chris described the relative a “septuagenarian lunatic that goes by the name of Mrs Harris” who had two large, water-loving retrievers that kind of trashed the car.

The car eventually found its way into Chris’s hands and three gearboxes later he decided to put it up for sale. According to the journalist, the car was bought as a camera car and slightly tweaked at REVO afterwards (to keep with the cars featured on the show, probably). Additional upgrades included bigger front brakes and a bigger antiroll bar. Needless to say, the jump from 333 Hp to 400 Hp didn’t went well with the DSG transmission and Harris had to change it. Twice.

Still, the car was offered for sale with a brand new transmission (which Chris bought for about $10,923) and without the chip tuning tweak. So, did somebody just paid £13,000 ($20,287) for an Audi trashed by some unknown automotive journalists, a lady with two wet dogs and a renowned automotive journalist? Well, the ad said £13,000 ($20,300) but that doesn’t mean a little haggling wasn’t involved. Not only that, but the price seemed fair for a slightly tuned and then de-tuned Audi S4.

Especially as the car was equipped with a fancy Bang and Olufsen Hi-Fi system, fancy bucket-seats, a fancy rear-differential, fancy interior carbon trims and a fancy rattle coming from the rear roll-bar.

You can check the ad here and laugh your pants-off.
