Audi has opened the European order books for the entry-level Q7 which comes equipped with a 218hp diesel engine.

As with all the Audi models carrying the ‘Ultra’ nameplate, the Q7 Ultra 3.0TDI brings some impressive economy figures to the table, with the company announcing 5.5lt/100km (42.8mpg US) and 144g/km of CO2. This represents a 28 per cent reduction in fuel consumption when compared to its predecessor with performance remaining more than adequate: 0-100km/h (0-62mph) comes in 7.1 seconds and the top speed is rated at 216km/h (134mph).

The 3.0-litre TDI engine produces 218hp and more importantly 500Nm of torque (368.8 lb ft) from 1,250 to 3,000rpm. This is the third variation to be added in the Q7 range, after the 333hp 3.0TFSI and 272hp 3.0TDI models, with more still on the way, including a four-cylinder 248hp 2.0-litre petrol turbo, a plug-in hybrid and the range-topping SQ7.

The price for the Audi Q7 Ultra 3.0TDI is set at €58,000 in Germany and the first cars will be delivered to dealerships in September.
