Honda has something very exciting in store for us at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It’s called Honda Project 2&4 and it’s powered by the RC213V motorcycle engine from the MotoGP series, modified for public road use.
Jointly designed by Honda’s motorcycle design center in Asaka and Honda’s automobile design center in Wako, Japan, Project 2&4 is the winner of a global design competition run by Honda between its design studios.
Honda says the concept “represents the company’s drive to inspire and reward creative thinking” and is aimed at creating a more exciting user experience.
What’s interesting about it is that it features a “cabin-less” structure – does that mean that the driver is actually a rider? We just have to wait and see.
Judging from the teaser photo, we’re dealing with an open-wheel car, just like the Ariel Atom and other similar vehicles. All Honda says is the Project 2&4 combines “the freedom of a motorcycle and the maneuverability of a car.” To say we’re excited to learn more about this vehicle would be a massive understatement.
Besides the intriguing concept, Honda said it will showcase the all-new HR-V and Jazz models in Frankfurt, as well as the refreshed CR-V, Civic and Civic Tourer, and Civic Type R. In addition, the Japanese carmaker will bring the UNI-CUB β personal mobility device for the first time to Germany.
