It’s safe to assume that the majority of Top Gear fans were actually Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond fans.
Still, with or without them, Top Gear remains one of the oldest and most iconic motor shows of all time.

Granted, its status was significantly influenced by the trio, but some would like to see the show live on – even if its former formidable cast found something better to do. That said, one of the favorites for the role as a main presenter was Jodie Kidd – the racecar driver slash model slash TV presenter that appeared on a couple of episodes as “a star in a reasonably priced car” and kicked some behinds around the Top Gear Test track.

Mind you, Jodie already presents a motoring show along with former “Very-Old-Top-Gear” host Quintin Wilson, called “The Classic Car Show”.

Unfortunately, in an interview with The Telegraph, Jodie Kidd admitted there was some talk about her being a host on Top Gear, but turned down the role:

“I made the decision very recently. Everyone every day has been asking me, am I doing it? Am I doing it? I am not, okay. But I feel greatly honoured that people think I could possibly be good enough to fill those shoes, especially as a woman.”

“If I were to accept Top Gear it would be completely all-consuming,” she says, sighing and gazing out to sea. “I love doing all the different things I am doing in my life at the moment. Top Gear is the most brilliant show on this planet but it would just take over your soul. That would be it. Through ups and downs and lefts and rights I have got to an amazing place where everything is finally balanced, and balanced for my family too.”

Well, she has a point. Being a Top Gear crew member might not always be all fun and games, as the amount of work that goes into a single episode is time consuming.

Meanwhile, Chris Evans is still looking for cast members – and no, I’m not talking about the actor who played Captain America.
