This is your chance to buy a cult classic that featured in the hit UK TV show “The New Avengers”.
Mind you, the mid 1970s TV program had nothing to do with Iron Man, Captain America, or the Wolverine, as it was a British secret agent fantasy adventure television series. A bit disappointed? Well, wait until you see the car…
There’s no easy way of saying it – it’s a barn find; and we all know that “barn-find” translates into a barely running, in-urgent-need-of-a-restoration automobile. Still, it’s a 1976 Jaguar XJ-C, and a fairly known one, I might add. Although you’ll have to squint really hard to see it, the car sports a British Racing Green paint job (which in Britain is probably called only “Racing Green”), and comes equipped with a Broadspeed body-kit and extra-wide wheels fitted for the show.
Damian Jones, Sales Director of H&H Classics – the company handling the car’s sale, comments:
“Who of us who remember the series did not at one time or another fancy ourselves at the wheel of this car? Now there is a chance to make that fantasy a reality for a very nominal amount. And who knows, maybe the chance to find a modern-day Purdey in the passenger seat.”
Purdey was the chick from the show which could pass as hot in the 70s. Anyway, speaking of money, the car is estimated at a modest £10,000 to £12,000 ($15,354 – $18,440) and it actually represents a pretty “dream-project” for a passionate restorer. As you’d expect, the Jag is powered by a dozen cylinders, with a total capacity of 5.3-litres, which makes things more awesome.
