Kia is teasing the next-generation Sportage with three renderings ahead of the model’s debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show on September 15.
The automaker says the fourth-generation Sportage features “a bold, progressive design, which exudes power and agility from every angle.” Kia also says the Sportage combines “bold, precise feature lines” with a “dramatically-sculptured bodywork.”
The design sketches certainly support that statement, but the real product will likely have less dramatic styling. As for the interior, the carmaker promises the “highest-quality cabin to date,” which will combine modern style with rich material quality.
That’s all Kia had to say about the new Sportage, which will share the platform with Hyundai’s new Tucson. What that means is the Sportage should be offered with a similar engine lineup in North America, including a 164hp 2.0-liter and a 175hp 1.6-liter turbo. In Europe, the Sportage will likely get two petrol units, a 132PS 1.6-liter and a 175PS 1.6-liter turbo, plus three diesels, the 115PS 1.7-liter, 136PS 2.0-liter and 186PS 2.0-liter.
