Now that the all-new C-Class Coupe is officially out in the open, renderings of different body styles are flooding the web. Some though, are more plausible than others.
Yes, we’d be thrilled to see the official Convertible version, sooner rather than later – and of course we’d want to witness a four door coupe model as well. But a two-door Shooting Brake based on the C-Class Coupe? No thanks.
I’m not saying that Mercedes couldn’t pull off anything they wanted with any type of car from a technical stand point. But there’s no practical reason for such a car to exist, nor is there a visual one.
Sure, we can do without the practicality…if the car is a real “knock-out”, but this looks rather weird, doesn’t it?
Besides, we’re perfectly fine with the CLA Shooting Brake and the CLS Shooting Brake because they have better proportions and an extra set of doors.
To me, the four-door coupe is the most exciting prospect because Mercedes needs it in order to fight off the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe and the Audi A5 Sportback.
Plus, let’s not forget who invented this four-door coupe craze in the first place!
As for this two-door C-Class Shooting Brake rendering, I’m pretty sure that nobody in charge of anything at Mercedes would think it’s a good idea.
