This weekend’s Audi TT Cup race at the Red Bull track in Spielberg, Austria, ended badly, after six cars were involved in a huge accident that lead to the stopping of the race.
Nobody was hurt, despite the violent nature of some of the impacts (yes, there was more than one). One of the cars involved caught fire, after bearing the most violent of all the impacts, but its driver had fled to safety so he was already out of harm’s way.
One of the drivers seemed to be stumbling after climbing out of his crashed TT racer, but he was able to keep himself upright.
The car that appears to have caused the accident was driven by Cristoph Hofbauer. It’s hard to see exactly what happened because the camera wasn’t zoomed in on the action, and the extreme rain and spray from the cars made it difficult to make things out.
