Jaguar is going through a bit of a renaissance with new models such as the XE capturing the spotlight. With that in mind, the F-Pace SUV should work its way into the premium compact SUV segment quite nicely.
It’s no secret that this is what the F-Pace looks like. We’ve already seen its shape and analyzed its lines when it showed up as the official Team Sky support vehicle at the Tour de France.
Let’s be honest, it’s a good looking car period, not just a good looking SUV. Though you shouldn’t expect all models to show up with very large wheels like you see in this rendering.
I also quite like the rear of the F-Pace, especially if it will indeed have these F-Type-inspired taillights – it just looks so mean, doesn’t it?
The only problem I have with the F-Pace is more or less about its personality and how well it can separate itself from the rest of the segment.
Even though compact SUVs are generally great cars, they lack that imposing larger-than-life image that you get in a full-size SUV. Unless we’re talking about a Porsche Macan, of course.
I also think it will be fascinating to see if the F-Pace can get anywhere near the XE in terms of sales. On one hand, it will be more expensive so odds are…no. But on the other hand, if people resist buying into Jaguar’s philosophy of building a sports saloon, we might just see their SUV sales grow beyond expectations. After all, we are slowly turning into an “SUV generation”.
Generally speaking, the Jaguar F-Pace is going to have to worry about rivals such as the BMW X3/X4, Mercedes GLC/GLC Coupe, Audi Q5 and Porsche Macan. Kind of a tough crowd.
