After Hungary and China, India has become the third country in the world to produce the Suzuki SX4 S-Cross.
Maruti Suzuki India introduced the S-Cross in India as a “premium crossover” and will sell it under a newly-established sales channel called Nexa. Maruti Suzuki plans to open 100 Nexa dealers within this fiscal year, with more to follow in the near future.
The Suzuki S-Cross is offered with two diesel engines in India: a 1.6-liter four-cylinder unit rated at 120PS (118hp) and 320Nm (236lb-ft) of torque (also available in Europe), as well as a 1.3-liter four-cylinder which produces 90PS (89hp) and 200Nm (147lb-ft) of torque.
The bigger engine is mated to a standard six-speed manual transmission, while the smaller one gets a five-speed manual. Suzuki says the S-Cross offers “the comfort of a sedan and the performance of an SUV,” making it suitable for driving in the city as well as on various country roads. Prices start from 834,000 rupees (approximately $13,080) in Delhi.
