If the silhouette of the all-new Suzuki Baleno teased in this official video looks familiar, it’s because the car is basically the production version of the iK-2 Concept unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year.
Debuting at the Frankfurt Motor Show on September 15, the all-new Suzuki Baleno is a five-door hatchback that combines “stylish design, spacious interior and new technologies,” according to the automaker.
No other details were offered, but we do know that the Baleno will act as a more rational alternative to the Swift, thanks to increased practicality and versatility. The Suzuki iK-2 study was powered by an all-new 1.0-liter direct-injection BOOSTERJET turbo petrol engine, which will also be offered on the production model.
As Suzuki said when the iK-2 was unveiled, the production model will also be available with the SHVS mild hybrid system. The Suzuki Baleno should have similar dimensions to the iK-2 study (4,023mm long, 1,920mm wide, 1,450mm tall and with a 2,520mm wheelbase), qualifying it for the B-segment. The Suzuki Baleno will arrive in the UK early next summer.
