Although the summer is almost over, Mini unveils its own designed surfboard.
Together with Channel Islands Surfboards – one of the most acclaimed and premium surfboard manufacturers in the world – Mini has developed a wave-riding board with a silly name.
It’s called “The Mini” and no, it isn’t a miniaturized surfboard, but it has its own distinctive characteristics, which allegedly reflects Mini’s best attributes.
In fact, it’s a versatile surfboard that performs in an unusual wide range of conditions – just like a Mini, right? But unlike a Mini automobile – which we highly don’t recommend surfing – it comes with an ultra- relaxed rocker, wider nose, wider squash tail, thinner rails, and aggressive single to double concave with vee out the tail – the exact traits that Sir Alec Issigonis probably desired in a Mini but didn’t know how to implement them because he wasn’t a surfer and he was making cars.
We’re obviously kidding about the last part. Anyway, the development and the design team included Christopher Weil, Head of Exterior Design at MINI, and US Open surfing Champion Kalani Robb, which stated:
“To create this feeling of agility and speed, we’ve developed a board with a little extra tail volume. The board’s wider outline and low rocker really make it fly”.
Following Mini’s customizable nature, the board can be commissioned in a wide range of colors. Moreover, “The Mini” is available for purchase at the Channel Islands online shop with prices starting at $894. Worth it; since it’s considerably cheaper than a Mini and you can ride the waves with it. Surfs up!
