Jaguar made an official film detailing the inner workings of their home factory back in 1961. It’s called One Leap Ahead and it follows a then-new Mark II along the assembly line.
You get to see the kind of manual labor that went into making the Mark II, a car with many components which were hand-made, hand-finished or mandatorily hand-assembled.
Back then, the company was also just starting out with E-Type manufacturing, although this is not shown in the video. Another car in production at the time was the Mark X, a larger and more mature car for those for whom the smaller Mark II was… not opulent-looking enough.
