Last month, we saw somewhat of a ‘floating roof design’ in this new A4 rendering, which might work nicely on the much bigger Q7 SUV as well.

It’s no secret that the all-new Q7 is a love it or shrug it off type of thing. Even if you’re not a fan, you still probably don’t hate its design since it is modern and imposing enough so as to at least attract your attention.

What it isn’t though is sporty or overly aggressive…or even overly elegant for that matter. If you ask me, it’s got nothing on the XC90 in terms of looks – but at the same time I don’t want to take anything away from it in terms of build quality, cabin quality, dynamics and so on.

With that being said, would a floating roof design such as this one have worked better on the Q7?

One reason to say yes is that it might look a little more interesting when viewed from the side. The problem is that the rear kind of looks weird.

In this rendering, the rear window is more upright and certain lines have been removed from the doors and rear bumper, and overall I think I’d still definitely go with the real car, but I’m curious to know how you guys feel about it.

Also, now that there’s more than just one Coupe SUV on the market, Audi definitely needs to get its head in the game and put everything they have into that upcoming Q6, which will hopefully have a genuine Coupe shape and not just be a taller sleeker Avant.
