I have to admit that the possibility of using iPhones as brake pads on a car has never crossed my mind. But we live in the age of YouTube, where the right search keyword can lead you to all sorts of crazy videos.
The folks from EverythingApplePro, a channel dedicated to Apple products, decided the world needs to know how the iPhone works as a brake pad – you know, just in case your brake pads let go, you find yourself in the middle of nowhere and your iPhone is off network.
Long story short, they fitted four iPhone 5S and four iPhone 4S devices to a 2002 Porsche 911 with a big brake kit and started performing the tests.
Surprisingly, the iPhones did pretty good in the 20 mph test, but from then on they were as useless for braking as brake pads are for initiating phone calls.
