With the facelifted 2016 Lexus LX now officially out, it’s conceivable that some people might look at it and think that a little bit more aggression would be a good thing.

If you ask me, I agree with readers that the LX is too big or too bulky. It is definitely aimed at people who don’t shy away from extremely large SUVs (mainly Americans), and would otherwise look towards a Range Rover, a Cadillac Escalade or a Mercedes-Benz GLS.

In terms of muscle, the LX 570 is good for 383 HP and 546 Nm (403 lb-ft) of torque, thanks to its 5.7 liter V8 power unit. That’s not bad, especially considering how big it is. But that’s kind of like the whole point of the LX. It’s supposed to be big, refined, effortless and quiet (preferably).

Doing an ‘F’ version would clearly go against that – especially since it definitely wouldn’t rival any type of AMG or M-Division rival in terms of straight line speed and handling. Even if you use the 470 HP 5.0 liter V8 from the GS F, it still wouldn’t be a match for its German rivals.

In terms of appearance, I don’t think the LX F would even look that much better than the regular version. I mean sure, it sits lower to the road, it has bigger wheels, bigger brakes, more aggressive spoilers and a dark grille – but it really looks like there’s no point to it.

Besides, in terms of class, the Range Rover would definitely be the better choice. Especially for people who want to put “image” first.
