Creating a 360-degree video is a fun way to shoot these days, and it’s still a new enough technology that we’re impressed by it.
Interactive videos, that bridge the gap between video games and films are the future, I think, and you can definitely see the applications in the racing genre – with one of these fitted to every car, there will be no more doubts as to who caused what accident. If you add virtual reality headsets into the mix, the attraction becomes clearer.
Until the tech becomes more prolific, though, we’ll have to make do with seeing it in action for videos like this one from Top Gear. It’s simply a lap of the Dunsfold airfield track, shot in 360 with the camera system placed atop a Mercedes SLS Black.
If you`re a fan of the Top Gear show, then this will be a look like no other at the fabled yet quite simple track. That is if you haven’t already driven hundreds of laps on it in the selection of video games where it’s available.
