Since getting a new member in the S-Class family automatically means that unofficial renderings will follow, looking at this ‘base-spec’ iteration before anything else, feels completely wrong.

In reality, the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet is nothing short of a luxury convertible for those who need and can afford to drive around in something prestigious. Its gorgeous three-layer soft top is available in 4 different colors and can be operated while on the move – up to 60 km/h (37 mph).

Under the hood you have a choice of either a 455 PS 4.7 liter V8 engine (S 500 Cabriolet), or a 585 PS 5.5 liter biturbo V8 (S 63 4Matic Cabriolet). Bottom line is, you’ve got plenty of performance and style regardless of which version you choose.

Another thing that’s great about this car is that it’s Mercedes’ first luxury convertible four-seater since 1971, which means that people are going to take notice once you show up in one of these, more so than in a Coupe version.

On top of that, Mercedes are saying that this is the world’s most comfortable convertible, though I have a feeling that Bentley Continental GTC owners might have something to say about that.

Anyway, the whole point of this car is to be luxurious, and this base-spec rendering is about as fancy as a peanut-butter and jelly sandwich .

Ironically, if this car was real, it would probably still be more comfortable than 95% of cars everywhere, but in the end it would genuinely defeat its own purpose.
