The BYD e6 is an all-electric crossover from China that has been sold around the world for the last two years where it was used as personal or company transport, as well as a taxi.
Now, these Chinese EVs are hitting European roads, where the fact that they are crossovers, electric and have a big battery could make them appealing to many (even private buyers). Another possible point of attraction is the Tesla-sized battery pack that can store up to 75 kWh of juice, bestowing the e6 with a claimed range of 186 miles or 300 km.
It’s obviously not going to achieve the official figures to the letter (or number, rather), but it is one of those EVs that you can drive around with fairly low range anxiety.
There are now 100 BYD e6 EVs in the UK, all as part of a fleet, and the host of the online green-minded show called Fully Charged, Robert Llewellyn, got the chance to drive one and say what it was like. Spoiler alert: he gets quite excited about it…
