One of the bonuses of watching a 2008 Veyron 16/4 drag racing a 2008 Koenigsegg CCXR is that you don’t have to wait too long to see which one wins the 50-300 km/h (186 mph) event.
What this is, basically, is the ultimate fair fight, between the original 1,001 PS, 1,250 Nm (922 lb-ft) Veyron, and the first ever hypercar that was genuinely unafraid of challenging the king for the crown – thanks to 806 PS (petrol) and a whooping 1,018 PS (E85/E100 Biofuel), which at the time turned the CCXR into the world’s most powerful production car.
The Koenigsegg also features a healthy 1,060 Nm (781 lb-ft) of its own, which coupled to its already incredibly low dry weight of just 1,280 kg (2,821 lbs), meant that you were looking at a rather unstoppable machine.
Oh, and in case you’re curious, we’re talking about a weight-to-power ratio of 1.26kg/hp for the Koenigsegg.
On to the video now and right off the bat there’s something “wrong” with this picture. Christian von Koenigsegg himself isn’t behind the wheel of the CCXR, as he’s driving the Veyron, getting ready to hit the drag strip for a quick 50-300 km/h run.
Telling you who won would be easy, but it’s best if you see it for yourselves and then comment on whether or not Mr von Koenigsegg extracted the very best out of that Bugatti.
The thing is, trying to decide which of these cars you might dream about taking home becomes surprisingly easy when considering how the Veyron is actually the more comfortable car.
