Our spies forwarded us these shots of a camo’d Dacia Duster as a prototype for the all-new, second-gen model, but we’re not so sure about that – even though some outlets also portray it as such.
With the exception of some meaningless styling details outlined under the wraps such as the extended tail lamps and the different satin-aluminum front under guard, both of which look like they’re borrowed from the recent Renault-badged Duster Oroch pickup truck or the Duster SUV for South America, it looks no different than the current model.
Speaking of the current Dacia-badged Duster, the Romanian brand will debut the updated 2016 model with some mild changes such as the diamond-effect 16-inch rims at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week.
So, unless the Renault group’s engineers dropped the body of today’s model on the underpinnings of the new one – expected within the next couple of years – which doesn’t seem at all likely from these pics, this could be just another market-specific version of the Duster or a leftover prototype used to test anything from new components to a different powertrain combo.
