Not even plucking out the ESP fuse stops the Renault Twingo from not allowing you to drift it. It was attempted before, but with a car whose fuse box had been untouched.
Apparently, power to the wheels is still cut and you lose the slide just as quickly as you initiated it. The guys over at Automix.sk really did give it their best shot, trying out two different engine versions on an actual skidpad with waterworks.
All, sadly, to no avail and they were left wanting for a more tail happy Twingo. It could come in the form of the RenaultSport model that we’re supposed to see, but who knows, maybe they’ll keep the systems on and just give it more power and grip.
The sad part is nobody really knows if the Twingo’s chassis is really any good, because nobody (outside the company) has driven one with no electronic aids (that we know of). Maybe hackers can hack away its computer brains and offer an aftermarket solution if certain owners really do want to do more than tête-à-queues in mini roundabouts.
