Lancia is slowly fading away into obscurity having been left with just two models, the re-badged Chrysler Voyager, and the Ypsilon supermini, which has received some light updates to keep it relevant.

The Italian firm says the car’s exterior was facelifted “to achieve a more balanced, streamlined look, by emphasizing the horizontal lines to make the car more striking”.

All we see from the single photo that they released is a new and smaller front grille together with a reworked front bumper featuring a different lower opening. It also comes in two new colors named “Ivory Chic” (pictured) and “Blu di Blu”.

There are no pictures of the interior out yet, but Lancia says it has redesigned the center tunnel, which together with the new glove compartment adds 3 liters to the total internal capacity. Additionally, there are new materials used on the seats and dashboard, plus revised graphics on the instrument panel and a new gear lever knob.

The 2016 Ypsilon will be available in three trim levels named Silver, Gold and Platinum, with the second one adding a new standard Uconnect infotainment system with a 5-inch touchscreen.

As for the engine range, it will include two petrol units, a 69PS 1.2liter and an 85PS 0.9-liter TwinAir Turbo paired to a semi-automatic transmission, a 95PS 1.3-liter turbo diesel, and two twin-fuel Ecochic cariants, the LPG/Petrol 69PS 1.2L, and the 80PS 0.9L TwinAir Turbo Methane/Petrol.

The new model year Ypsilon will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week before it reaches showrooms in select European markets later this month.
