German tuning brands are stepping up their efforts to outdo each other in upgrading Mercedes-AMG’s new 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 in ‘S’ guise. Found in the C63 S sedan and estate, and the AMG GT S sports car, the V8 has now fallen into the hands of PP-Performance that has re-coded the mill’s ECU.
The chip-tuning bumps the C63 S’ output from 510PS (503hp) and 700Nm (516 lb-ft) to 613PS (605hp) and 769Nm (567 lb-ft) respectively, while they also remove the electronic speed limiter.
This results to a 0-100km/h (62mph) sprint time of 3.59 seconds and a top speed of 307km/h (191mph) for the sedan, versus the stock model’s 4.0 seconds and 250km/h (155mph).
In the AMG GT S, which delivers 510PS (503hp) and 650Nm (479 lb-ft) in factory trim, PP-Performance’s upgraded ECU frees 610PS (602hp) and 765Nm (564 lb-ft), for a 0-100km/h (62mph) improvement of 0.4 seconds to 3.4 seconds, and a 13km/h (8mph) higher top speed at 324km/h (201mph).
In both cases, PP-Performance will charge you €2,899 (US$3,300) with VAT/tax in Germany. The tuner also offers a racing filter (€199 / US$225) and a catless sports exhaust kit (€2,499 / US$2,800) that adds another 33PS (32hp).
