Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes has described the new Dawn as “the sexiest Rolls-Royce ever built.”

We’ll let you decide for yourself whether that is the case by looking at the photo gallery, but before you do that here’s what you need to know about the new Rolls-Royce Dawn.

The company says that while the Dawn enters a sector “exclusively populated by the biggest of automotive compromises – the 2+2 seat configuration,” it makes no compromises whatsoever.

What sets it apart from competition is the roof which is said to deliver the silence of a Wraith when up and “operates in almost complete silence” in just over 20 seconds at a cruising speed of up to 50 km/h (31 mph). This is why Rolls-Royce calls the Dawn the quietest convertible car in the world today.

The Dawn’s roof is the second largest fabric roof applied to a current production car, second only to that of the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe.

As for the 2+2 seating configuration, the automaker says the rear seat passengers benefit from the same level of space and comfort as those in the front – unlike many similar cars where the rear seats can only be used by children.

The “world’s only true modern four-seater super-luxury drophead,” as Rolls-Royce likes to call the Dawn, features 80 percent unique body panels compared to related models such as the Wraith or Ghost.

The Dawn is powered by a twin turbocharged 6.6-liter V12 rated at 563hp and 780Nm (575lb-ft) of torque, allowing it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.9 seconds and to reach an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).

Deliveries begin in the second quarter of 2016.
