SEAT will be showing off a crossover version of its Leon SC three-door hatch at the Frankfurt motor show. Just the two sketches were provided, with no additional information, but we can easily speculate to fill in the blanks.
The VW-owned Spanish manufacturer is either gauging opinions on making a three-door crossover Leon, or it’s announcing such a model is definitely coming. The latter is definitely more plausible here, as there are hardly any (none?) on sale at the moment.
Design-wise, it’d be your basic Leon SC three-door, with the shorter wheelbase than the regular hatch, but with taller suspension, plastic cladding around the sides and wheel arches, plus the obligatory additional badging.
Since crossovers are here to stay and constantly growing in popularity, maybe this one from SEAT will be among the more interesting ones. The Leon SC is already known for its solid handling, decent performance and sharp look; add some light off-road ability to that and unique styling and it’s not hard to see this thing selling.
Maybe it’s one of the four new models the manufacturer announced it was going to launch by 2017.
