Buick dropped the first teaser of its next LaCrosse sedan ahead of a world premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show this November.
The 2017 LaCrosse takes on the face of Buick’s much-talked about Avenir concept for a flagship sedan from this year’s Detroit Auto Show, with a new, three-color tri-shield insignia set on a wing-shaped element resting on the re-shaped waterfall grille bars.
“The Avenir concept shattered expectations of what a Buick could be and the 2017 LaCrosse promises to do the same,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Buick in a statement. “Its expressive design represents a break from convention and highlights the progressiveness in all new Buick models.”
Buick says that the new grille design that was inspired from the firm’s 1954 Wildcat II Concept will be spread across the range by 2018.
The next generation of the LaCrosse sedan rides on GM’s new E2XX platform architecture, which according to Buick, “is stronger yet lighter than the current model, and serves as the foundation for a more dynamic driving experience”.
It uses a more sophisticated five-link rear suspension instead of the current model’s four-link setup, with the automaker claiming that, it will “contribute to a more responsive ride, while taking Buick’s signature quietness to a new threshold – and it’s a premium feature not found on many other full-size luxury models, including the Lexus ES”.
Buick did not give anything away about the new LaCrosse’s powertrains, but we expect GM’s latest turbocharged four-pots to be on the table, possibly together with a revised V6 and the option of all-wheel drive.
