This is the kind of incident that will make you lose faith in humanity. Two Mercedes drivers (let’s call them Dumb and Dumber) met under a narrow bridge in Maidenhead, UK and refused to give way to one another.
This unbelievably childish and absurd “stand-off” lasted no less than 40 minutes(!), as neither the woman driving the Mercedes-Benz SLK nor the man behind the wheel of an older generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class wanted to back down.
Obviously, this frustrated many motorists queued up behind the SLK and the S-Class, with some of them trying to act as negotiators between Mrs. Dumb and Mr. Dumber.
According to a traffic sign at the side of the road, the woman had right of way. However, the elderly man was already in the tunnel when they met. He told witnesses he didn’t want to reverse his car because he was worried he might crash!
Since the woman refused categorically to back down, eventually, another motorist helped the S-Class driver reverse. See how the lame stand-off was resolved in the video below.
