The all-new Need for Speed game will be an arcade-oriented title that aims to mimic and improve the atmosphere of the original Underground games. Obviously, the visuals are substantially better than in the older title, but it’s also the way you advance through the game that’s different.
Whereas before you just completed races, bought new cars and upgraded your existing one, now you earn experience for doing things other than actual racing. Yes, being fast is obviously still important, but so are the way you interact with your crew and the effort you put into building up your car.
There are five of these gameplay pillars which publisher EA elaborates on in the trailer posted below.
We’re also promised the deepest customization ever in a Need for Speed game, but we’ll have to see that to believe it, as both the Underground duo and Shift duo had deep and satisfying modding capabilities – the latter even had engine swaps like you have in Forza.
