Honoring the Golf GTI Clubsport’s Frankfurt Motor Show reveal, here’s a rendering of a Variant version that doesn’t look half-bad.
Officially, there’s no word yet on a real-life Variant version of the GTI Clubsport, but since it’s fun to speculate, we could say that this car would feature the same 265 PS 2.0-liter turbocharged engine found in the Frankfurt-bound car, as well as the boost function which increases power by 10%, giving you about 290 PS for 10 seconds.
The way you activate this function is you simple kick down the throttle, and before you know it, you’ll be hitting 100 km/h (62 mph). Actually you’ll know it in about 5.9 seconds if you’re shifting using the DSG, or 6 seconds flat if you’re doing it manually.
Aesthetically there is a new bumper, side sills, new rear diffuser and roof spoiler, though we only get to see what’s up front with this rendering, which might be good enough for some.
Just like with the real car, this Variant rendering also has gloss black door mirror caps and the Oryx White body color with the black roof. Overall, it’s a very dynamic design which would probably look good on any type of Golf version. In reality, the 3-door model does look significantly sportier than the Variant – it doesn’t come as a 5-door Hatch though.
As for this rendering, generally speaking it seems alright but if you want to go really fast in a Golf Variant, you need to stick with the 300 PS ‘R’ model.
