The Frankfurt Motor Show graced us with the debut of what’s probably the most desirable member of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class family, the Cabriolet.
Going on sale in December in Europe with deliveries scheduled for spring next year, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet will be initially available with two powertrains, the 455PS (449hp) 4.7-liter V8 in the S 500 and the 585PS (577hp) 5.5-liter biturbo V8 in the S 63 4Matic.
While the base V8 offers enough performance for most people, many of those who have the money to get an open-top S-Class will probably go for the S 63 4Matic.
It looks sharper thanks to the AMG aero kit and goes quicker too, with a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint of 3.9 seconds. That’s also due to the standard 4Matic all-wheel drive system – the S 500 only comes with rear-wheel drive.
