It only took one day for the first renderings of the BMW M2 Convertible to appear, following this week’s official reveal of the M2 Coupe.
The first renderings are the work of Photoshop ace Theophilus Chin and look exactly as you would expect: neat, clean and, most of all, realistic. If BMW decides to build a convertible M2, chances are it will look just like this.
Honestly, I don’t see a reason why BMW wouldn’t give the M2 Convertible the green light. The automaker already builds a drop-top model on the same platform, the 2-Series Convertible, also offered in a more performance-oriented M235i version.
Expect the same twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine from the M2 Coupe. Rated at 370PS (365hp) and 465Nm (343lb-ft), it should be enough to accelerate the M2 Convertible from 0 to 100 km/h in under 5 seconds, despite the inevitable extra kilograms the M2 Cabriolet would carry over the coupe version.
