Everyone is excited about the new BMW M2 Coupe, and for good reason. Judging from the numbers alone, it should make for the most exciting drive from BMW M’s current lineup.

The successor to the BMW 1 M Coupe is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight six-cylinder engine that will rev to 7,000rpm. A more aggressively tuned version of the new X4 M40i’s inline-six, the M2’s powerplant is rated at 370PS (365hp) at 6,500rpm and produces 465Nm (343lb-ft) of torque between 1,400 and 5,560rpm. As if that wasn’t enough, an overboost function increases torque by 35Nm to 500Nm (369lb-ft) between 1,450 and 4,750rpm.

While you’re probably aware of all the numbers already, chances are you’ll be interested to find out interesting things about the development of the BMW M2 Coupe from the people that worked on the project: the designers, engineers and mechanics. Or as BMW calls them, the “M fans”.
