We don’t need a show of hands in order to assume that if the Mitsubishi ASX looked anything like this, it would be one of the most successful cars in its class.

There’s a little Range Rover Evoque to it, isn’t there? With the high hood line and the visor-like headlights and upper grille. It’s genuinely modern and imposing, but if you feel any different, we’d love to know why.

Now, this thing started out as the eX Concept which is an electric compact SUV – something we’ll definitely need to get used to in the future as we’ll slowly move towards an all-EV industry. But since we don’t know anything about it from a technical perspective, let’s focus on the visual.

The concept had these tiny mirrors and beautifully integrated door handles, but rendered as a 2nd generation ASX, it’s definitely a bit more down to earth. The mirrors are regular every-day ones, the door handles too, and the lower grille as well.

The floating C-Pillar design endures and that’s good thing with this type of car, generally speaking. If it works for the Evoque, it should work for other compact SUVs as well.

Overall, it’s a better effort than that Pajero Sport Coupe rendering we caught two months ago and Mitsubishi certainly needs a new face, globally speaking.

As long as they don’t mess up the design from concept to production model, Mitsubishi fans might actually have to get excited for this car as it will hopefully transition from study to reality.
