Chevrolet has modded some of its portfolio for SEMA by garnishing them with “street-smart” aesthetics.

Truth be told, it’s hard for a car manufacturer to empathize with the motoring street-culture without appearing too corny and loosing its credibility. When it comes to factory-styled, tuner-inspired machines, many car makers offer tacky customization options, which usually reflect their – mostly false – understandings of how things work in the real world.

Chevrolet, on the other hand, managed to capture a decent amount of custom-flair with its Red Line concept-cars – a series of visually-enhanced vehicles made to integrate various accessories that offer multiple personalization choices, as Roger McCormack, director, Accessories & Performance Parts Marketing, said:

Chevrolet Accessories bring value and the added security of knowing the parts are designed, engineered, tested and backed by the same team that developed the vehicles.”

The modified vehicle list includes a wide variety of Chevy-badged models, such as the Trax, the Malibu, the Camaro, the Colorado and Silverado 1500. Naturally, following a specific theme and layout, all of the cars share the same Enhanced Silver Metallic exterior paint-job, with a custom Charcoal roof and Satin Graphite red accents, although they still differentiate in subtle style cues.

For instance, the Camaro Red Line Series concept sports 20-inch wheels in Satin Graphite with red accents, hash mark and decklid panel graphics, red fog lamp bezels and a plethora of performance upgrades, while the Colorado comes bearing 18-inch wheels (with custom red accents) and center caps, black bowtie kit, wheel flares, sport assist steps, GearOn cargo rings, and a GearOn bike rack by Thule.

The point of showcasing these extras is to observe the public’s reaction at the show, as all of the production and concept accessories were developed by Chevy’s design studio and the add-ons will be available beginning with 2016, as Jim Campbell, GM U.S. vice president of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports said:

“Each vehicle wears production and concept accessories thematically linked under the Red Linea Series banner. We look forward to gauging public reaction at the SEMA Show and other venues.”
