Reports have surfaced from Italy that Fiat is offering extra incentives for the trading in of a VW group vehicle on top of the incentives and offers it already had.
Apparently, those who take part in the scheme could gain an additional rebate of €1,500 (or ~$1,700) towards the purchase o a new Fiat-Chrysler group vehicle.
Bloomberg informs us that in order to obtain the highest cash-back deal you need to opt for a Jeep Grand Cherokee. A Fiat Panda will still attract an extra rebate, although a more modest one of €500. It also quotes an Autonews Europe story that says Ford is doing the same in Italy, and it’s offering €750 regardless of model.
This is definitely a cheeky way for Fiat (or Ford) to claw some more home market share. It is still the sales leader in Italy, but up until now, VW was running it very close and proved a relentless adversary – now FCA is turning the tides with all it has at its disposal, rebates being a firm Fiat favorite…
