It seems like Sergio Marchionne’s hand on the Ferrari helm is, as predicted, steering the company towards making more cars. A recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission in the US announces plans for rise of almost 30 percent.
As Ferrari’s production rate is currently pegged at 7,000 units annually, the hike would push the figure up to 9,000 units. The rise will happen gradually and will be in full effect by 2019, according to CNBC.
Ferrari reportedly based the move on “growing demand in emerging markets and from demographic changes as the size and spending capacity of our target client grows.’’
The company’s focus will remain on “maintain a reputation of exclusivity and scarcity among purchasers of our cars and deliberately monitor and maintain our production volumes and delivery wait times to promote this reputation,” even with the extra production.
It expects revenue to grow in 2015 by up to 9 or 10 percent to $820 – 830 / €720 – 730 million.
