Even though its motorsport debut is several months away, the Ford Performance team is hard at work getting the all-new GT ready for competition.
What’s great about this video is that we’re looking at (official) never-before-seen Ford GT footage. We can see the twin turbo V6 EcoBoost unit hit the dyno, as well as the car taking on Sebring Raceway for the first time.
Unlike the previous generation model – which was designed to look as much as possible like the original GT 40, the all-new Ford GT was designed to be as aerodynamic as possible.
As Ford VP Raj Nair says, the fact that the car “came out beautiful” is fantastic, but that was never the priority. Still, following this clip is quite satisfying even if you’re not doing it to find out as much as you can about the development of this race car.
You get to see it in action (though not for the first time) and you get to hear that magnificent 3.5 liter twin turbo V6 unit howl as it’s being revved closer and closer to its limiter.
The Ford GT racer will make its debut in Daytona, with four cars heading to Le Mans shortly after. That being said, it will be pretty interesting to see how it will perform against its European rivals.
