Driving the current generation smart fortwo can be really fun as long as you’re happy with the car’s maneuverability and features, without giving too much thought to looks and performance.
Let’s start with looks, since people can have different views on this matter. The Fortwo is still cute enough and small enough as a new generation model, but looking aggressive isn’t exactly something it can do “out of the box”.
This is where Lorinser comes in with their upgrades – mainly the body-kit, lowering kit and the matte black custom wheels. The car looks meaner front to back, and the wheels work really well considering the body color, as does the simple 6-spoke design. By sitting lower to the ground, this Fortwo also looks sportier, as if that bonnet was hiding a disturbing amount of power, even though it’s not.
What Lorinser will do for you speed-wise, is install a performance module and a custom exhaust system, which should give you a little something extra when zipping through traffic. Most people however are perfectly happy with the Fortwo’s natural abilities, though if we could choose, we’d always ditch the 70hp / 52 kW model in favor of the turbocharged 89hp / 66 kW one. Getting from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 10.4 seconds is a hell of a lot better than needing an extra 4 seconds.
All in all, people who like smart cars and appreciate a sportier Fortwo will probably smile and even admire what Lorinser put together here.
