Lotus’ most lethal track weapon yet, the 3-Eleven, is theoretically capable of lapping the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 7.06 minutes, according to the automaker.
That would put it remarkably close to the Porsche 918 Spyder, which is the current Nürburgring lap record holder for production cars with 6.57 minutes. The Lotus 3-Eleven features a new lightweight body (under 900kg or 1,984lbs) with an open cockpit and a mid-mounted supercharged 3.5-liter V6 producing 450hp.
That makes it the fastest and most powerful road-legal model ever built by Lotus – not to mention that the automaker will also offer an even more hardcore ‘Race’ model, destined for track use only.
Last month we told you about a two-week-long testing session that took place at the Nürburgring, during which the 3-Eleven covered about 2,000 km (1,242 miles). Now we have some official footage taken during that testing session which we’re quite sure you’ll enjoy watching.
